These bronze sculptures were commissioned as a thank you gift to three adult children and their families, to thank them for a 50th Anniversary party they gave their parents.
The client envisaged a line drawing of a branchless tree turned into a table sized sculpture for each of them. ( a sort of symbol of a family tree, suggesting gentle support and a shared history history) They were not to be "fussy", but contemporary in keeping with the furniture of Harvey Prober and their love of 20th century art.
The sculptures were each individually created and caste in bronze. The "spirals" of "paper" were extremely fine and particularly complex to caste. The "trees" were made separately and all the elements individually patinated before being assembled. Each sculpture was individually gift packed, before they were shipped together to the client.
Comments from the commissioning couple:
" Terrific! Good things are definitely worth waiting for! Many, many thanks to you both. I'm sorry we didn't order 4 !"
